Prayer points for July 2021

The following prayers were presented by our Vicar Greg Allinson during the online service on July 12, 2020. They are based around the sermon reading from 2 Peter 1. We hope these prayers will encourage your personal devotion and prayer this week.

In these uncertain times I am sure there have been many prayers asking God to bring an end to this current COVID-19 pandemic. I am sure there have been prayers for God’s healing hand on those who are sick from the virus, prayers for doctors and nurses and other members of our service communities, including police and emergency service workers, and prayers for protection from the virus for family and friends.

Yet, we also remember that there are many other things to be thanking God for — and to be praying about — at this time beyond the current pandemic.

But in this, or any other time, why pray at all?

The spread of coronavirus has created a crisis that threatens to engulf every nation on the planet. Perhaps you’re asking, what’s the point of praying in a time like this? The bible gives us some compelling reasons to keep praying now more than ever.
