St Mark’s Weekend ‘Away’ in Camberwell
St Mark’s what’s next?
God has called us to be his church, to be part of the kingdom of God here on earth. We’ve had a lot of change over the last few years - some it chosen, some of it not. But our gospel identity is found in Jesus Christ: “he has reconciled you by Christ’s physical body through death to present you holy in his sight, without blemish and free from accusation” (Col 1:22). And so our goal as St Mark’s is to “[Jesus] is the one we proclaim, admonishing and teaching everyone with all wisdom, so that we may present everyone fully mature in Christ” (Col 1:28).
But what does that look like for us at St Mark’s, in Camberwell, in the year 2026?
That’s what this weekend will be about. I will be sharing about what God put on my heart for St Mark’s. What I’ve learned here, and where I hope we will go. I also want to hear from people at St Mark’s, about their hopes and expectations, and I want us to think deeply how we are a Col 1:22 & 28 church. It will also be a chance for us to pray together, trusting in God for the future.
I know not everyone will be able to come for the whole weekend, but I’d love everyone to come for at least part of the weekend. You can book by clicking here.
The weekend will be held at Camberwell Girls Grammar - you can park at St Mark’s and walk up. It will start at 6:30 pm on Friday 28 August with supper, and finish at afternoon tea on Saturday 29 August.

Friday, 28 August: We are St Mark’s!
Supper
We will enjoy being God’s family together. There will be good food, a chance to praise God together, some fun games to get to know each other as a church, and a chance to begin the weekend in prayer.
Saturday Morning Session 1, 28 August: Our Journey Forward
I will share what God has put on my heart. A lot of this I have shared with Parish Council, and St Mark’s has experienced some of those changes already. I will look at how God has already resourced us in Jesus Christ, and the opportunities he is giving us. It will also be a chance for you to hear from each other about what you are hoping for.
Morning Tea
Saturday Morning Session 2, 28 August: Turning our eyes outwards
Gordon Pont has a massive heart for those around us to know Jesus. In a practical session we’re going to think about how we can be evangelists together for the sake of those hwo don’t yet know Jesus.
Lunch
Saturday Afternoon, 28 August: Resting & Trusting in Jesus.
In John 15 Jesus tells us we are the vine. Before strategies, before plans, before action, we trust in jesus. We will pray together in creative ways, and ways to help us think about our area, and what God calls us to.
